Minho Choi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and the AI Graduate School (affiliated) at UNIST, South Korea, where he leads the Photonic Intelligence Lab. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from KAIST, specializing in semiconductor physics and quantum photonics. He later expanded his research into metasurfaces and optical neural networks during his postdoctoral work at the University of Washington.
His current research integrates optics, electrical engineering, and computer science to develop optimal optics for computer vision tasks. These innovations support autonomous systems, robotics, surveillance, and intelligent imaging technologies. Building on his background in quantum photonics, he also explores the integration of artificial intelligence and quantum photonics to leverage their mutual strengths.
Honors and recognitions include the KAIST Presidential Fellowship, Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies Fellowship (고등교육재단), the National Scholarship for Science and Engineering, and acknowledgment for his BK21 representative Ph.D. work.
